The Greatest City On Earth

San Antonio, Texas. This city cannot easily be described with one word. We have a varying but mostly Semi-Arid climate. Rain is hard to come buy for the most part. Usually during the Summer it’s partly cloudy and HOT. The weather in San Antonio makes it a great tourist destination year round. There are many things to do and see here. I will start with the most famous and work my way to the least famous.

The Alamo. If you haven’t heard of it, live in another city, or if you’ve never been here, see this wikipedia article. But there is nothing like actually stepping on the grounds of the famous mission, The Alamo. There is a lot of history surrounding the Alamo, too much for me to write about. So view the wikipedia article and then come back here!! haha

The Riverwalk. Nothing else like it. I had a friend tell me the other day, “It’s like another city down there.” And it really is. Bars, restaruants, shops, if you can’t find something to do on the Riverwalk you’re not trying very hard. On the list of establishments are The Hard Rock Cafe, County Line BBQ, Casa Rio, River Center Mall, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, and the Starving Artist Art Gallery just to name a few. To view the full list, go here.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas. A huge theme park located in northwest San Antonio. There are plenty of rides and shows. Only been there once way before it was bought by Six Flags. So I don’t have much experience there.

Sea World San Antonio. What more can I say? It’s Sea World. Shamu, the dolphins, the Steel Eel roller coaster, the Clydesdale horses. It’s a great place to take the kids. And if you’re military, it’s free!

The Tower of the Americas. At 750 feet tall it is the tallest structure in San Antonio. It graces the skyline and really makes the city beautiful at night. The Tower has a restaraunt and an observation deck at the top. I’ve been up there a few times and the view is breathtaking.

The Other Missions. The city also has four other missions. Mission Concepción, Mission Espada, Mission San José, and Mission San Juan Capistrano. Been to one of these, it was cool. But I’m not a huge history nut.

The San Antonio Zoo and Brakenridge Park. I grouped these together because you can’t really have one without the other. If you go to the zoo, the park is right there. They just added a new African exhibit at the zoo. I haven’t seen it, but I was there before it was completed. If you love animals, this is a great place. The park has a miniature train that you and the family can ride. It takes 30-45 minutes and you get to see the whole park. It’s quite nice and relaxing.

There are many other things to do and see here. Too many to list. San Antonio is not your typical urban city. It has that old city atmosphere and the people are for the most part friendly. This really is a great city, maybe even the greatest city anywhere. But that’s just my opinion.
