Bi-Polar Texas Weather

The weather in South Texas is very, like my girlfriend says, “bi-polar”. Yesterday it was sunny and warm, today rain, ice, and snow fall from the sky. Winter has pretty much sucked this year. Except if you are a farmer, then you’ve been getting plenty of rain for your crops. Otherwise, the rest of us suffer miserably as we battle slick roads and fogged up windshields. If you are me, the latter is much more challenging. You see, I have no defroster in my automobile. The darn thing is broken. So instead of driving comfortably as I make my way to various destinations, I have to get hit in the face with ice blowing into my car. Why, you ask? Because I drive with my windows down to keep the windshield clear. How depressing is that? Then there is the leaky A/C unit. I have no cold air blowing in on a hot day. No, I have to drive with my windows down, again. So thankfully there are times when I have an opportunity to be a passenger in my girlfriend’s car. She doesn’t have these problems with her vehicle.

San Antonio, Texas. This city cannot easily be described with one word. We have a varying but mostly Semi-Arid climate. Rain is hard to come buy for the most part. Usually during the Summer it’s partly cloudy and HOT. The weather in San Antonio makes it a great tourist destination year round. There are many things to do and see here. I will start with the most famous and work my way to the least famous. Read more…

Bring Major League Baseball To San Antonio

Baseball, America’s Pastime. San Antonio has the Spurs, that’s it for Professional sports. Some people want to bring an NFL team to San Antonio, but not me. Most people I know here in South Texas are Cowboys’ Fans. Good luck trying to get them to convert to some other NFL team. Not to mention that getting an NFL team here is a difficult task. The Alamodome is getting old, the city can’t really afford to build another football oriented stadium. I think the city of San Antonio would be better served by bringing in MLB.

We already have Wolff Stadium where the Missions play. Building a baseball stadium seems like it would be cheaper, maybe not though. But nevertheless, we don’t have much of a baseball presence here in the city. We do have the Missions, but come on, they are a AA team. Put an MLB team at Wolff Stadium, and you’ll sell it out. If not, build a new stadium. There is plenty of room in this city.

Even if the city doesn’t get an MLB team, we still have the Spurs. But how nice it would be to have something other than Double-A baseball. NFL is a maybe, but I’d rather have an MLB team to cheer for. Afterall, baseball is America’s Pastime.
